도미노 피자, 암호화폐 PCI를 결제수단으로 추가!

11일 관련업계에 따르면 지난 7일부터 도미노피자는 다날이 자체 개발한 암호화폐 페이코인(PCI)을 결제 수단으로 추가했다.
도미노피자 공식 홈페이지와 모바일 앱을 통해 주문할 때 페이코인으로 결제할 수 있다. 피자 주문이 온라인과 모바일에서 대부분 이루어지는 것을 감안해 오프라인 매장에서는 기존 결제 수단만 이용할 수 있다.

페이코인은 암호화폐 거래소 후오비코리아에서 구매할 수 있다. 구매한 후 암호화폐 전자지갑 ‘페이프로토콜 월렛’을 다운받고 본인 인증을 받으면 실물 결제를 할 수 있는 상태가 된다. 페이코인 측은 도미노피자와 협의를 통해 에어드롭 등 다양한 이벤트로 초기 투자자들을 유치하겠다는 계획이다. 앞서 지난 4월 말부터 커피 전문점 달콤커피에서도 페이코인 결제가 가능해졌다.

페이코인 관계자는 “아직 투자 목적으로 페이코인을 보유하고 있는 이들이 결제수단으로 활용하는 이들보다 더 많다”면서 “적극적인 마케팅을 펼쳐 결제 서비스를 알려나가겠다”고 설명했다.

향후 페이코인은 동남아를 비롯한 해외 시장으로 결제 서비스를 확대한다는 계획이다. 회사 관계자는 “해외에 구축된 가맹점을 통한 네트워크가 우리의 강점”이라며 “이 같은 강점으로 다른 업체와 제휴 모델을 구상해 협력해나가며 함께 암호화폐 결제 생태계를 키워나가겠다”고 강조했다.

이번 달에는 국내 3대 소셜커머스 플랫폼 티몬에서 암호화폐 결제 서비스가 적용될 것으로 전망된다. 티몬의 신현성 창업자가 주도하는 테라는 가격 변동성을 낮춘 스테이블코인을 활용한 간편결제 서비스를 선보인다. 이를 통해 글로벌 결제 네트워크를 구축한다는 계획이다. 배달의민족, 야놀자, 글로벌 쇼핑 플랫폼 큐텐(Qoo10), 동남아 최대 중고거래 사이트 캐러셀, 베트남 티키(TIKI) 등에서도 이 결제 서비스를 사용할 수 있을 전망이다.

글로벌 IT공룡 페이스북도 암호화폐 생태계를 구축에 발을 들이고 있다. 페이스북은 암호화폐 프로젝트 ‘리브라’를 통해 자체 코인인 ‘글로벌코인’을 발행할 계획이다. 내년 1분기까지 약 12개국에 디지털 결제 시스템을 구축할 것으로 전해지고 있다.
업계 한 관계자는 “암호화폐 결제에 뛰어드는 기업들이 늘어나 시장이 커지면, 차별성 있는 모델도 생길 수 있을 것”이라며 “그렇게 되면 암호화폐 결제를 사용하는 이들이 늘어나고 사용자 편의성도 높아지는 시대가 올 것”이라고 전망했다
